Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Boston?
Yes, and it comes from a department most people do not expect. Boston Fire Prevention issues the temporary dumpster placement permit rather than Public Works, and you apply through the BFD online portal. A container in the street also needs a separate street occupancy permit. Worth starting early.
