Residential

Residential Dumpster Rental in Rhode Island

PVD Dumpster Rentals delivers residential dumpsters across Rhode Island in three sizes, 10, 15 and 20 yards, with 7 days on site. House cleanouts, roof tear-offs, room remodels and yard clearances all run from the same four containers. Start with the job. We will match the debris and volume to the right container so you are not guessing at the size.

Home Cleanout Dumpster Rental

Furniture, boxes, carpet, basement junk and years of stuff you are finally ready to get rid of. Home cleanouts are usually bulky more than heavy, so the container tends to fill up before it reaches its weight limit.

The 10 yard measures 12 feet long, 8 feet wide and 3 feet high, giving you a compact footprint that fits a single-car driveway with room to park behind it.

Garage Cleanout Dumpster Rental

Old shelving, tools, bikes, storage bins and everything that has slowly taken over the garage. We can place the dumpster close to the garage so you spend more time loading and less time carrying junk across the property. See the garage cleanout dumpster rental page for more.

Need more room without taking up more driveway? The 20 yard has the same 14 by 8 foot footprint as the 15 yard, with a taller 5 foot wall.

Roofing Dumpster Rental

Roofing shingles get heavy fast. A tear-off can reach the weight limit while the dumpster still looks half empty, so choosing by size alone is an easy way to get it wrong. See our roofing dumpster rental page for the details.

The 20 yard includes 2 tons. With shingles and demolition debris, watch the weight before you watch the fill line.

Home Renovation Dumpster Rental

Cabinets, counters, trim, drywall and other debris from a kitchen, bathroom or room remodel can go in a standard dumpster. Tile, concrete and other dense material may need a different setup. Start with our home renovation dumpster rental guide.

Concrete, dirt and sod belong in the dedicated 3 ton heavy-material container, rented for 3 days, not in a standard debris dumpster.

Yard Waste Dumpster Rental

Branches, brush, hedge trimmings and storm debris can eat up dumpster space quickly once the pile gets loaded. If the yard waste looks bigger than you expected on the ground, sizing up usually saves you from running out of room halfway through the cleanup.

Every standard dumpster includes 7 days on site, giving you time to load at your own pace.

Sizes

Dumpster Sizes and What Fits

Dumpster size is decided by weight more often than volume: every standard PVD container allows 200 pounds per cubic yard, so dense debris reaches the limit while the box still looks half empty. Bulky junk usually fills the box first. Shingles, tile, dirt and concrete can hit the weight limit first.

Every rental includes delivery, pickup, disposal up to the included weight, and 7 days
Size Dimensions Tons included What it fits
10 yard dumpster 12′ L x 8′ W x 3′ H 1 ton One room, a small garage, a bathroom strip-out
15 yard dumpster 14′ L x 8′ W x 4′ H 1.5 tons A full garage, a kitchen, brush and yard clearing
20 yard dumpster 14′ L x 8′ W x 5′ H 2 tons A roof tear-off, several rooms, an active jobsite
Concrete dumpster 12′ L x 8′ W x 3′ H 3 tons Nothing mixed in with the concrete or brick
Dirt dumpster 12′ L x 8′ W x 3′ H 3 tons Dirt and soil from excavation and landscaping

The heavy-material container uses the same 12 by 8 by 3 foot footprint as the 10 yard, but it is rated for triple the weight. That is why dense loads like concrete and dirt belong in the smaller heavy-duty box instead of a larger standard dumpster. See the full dumpster sizes and weight limits before you book.

Call before you load it

  • Mattresses and box springs $100 each per item

Accepted. Tell us how many when you book so the item fee is on the agreement up front instead of showing up later.

    Say it at booking
  • Propane tanks $35 each per item

Accepted, but never loose inside the dumpster. Set propane tanks beside the container and tell the driver where they are.

    Never loose
  • Tires $12 starting, per tire

Concrete, dirt, sod, brick and asphalt require the dedicated heavy-material container. It has the same 12 by 8 by 3 foot footprint as the 10 yard, but is built to carry three times the load.

The Process

How a Dumpster Rental Actually Works

From booking to pickup, the process is four straightforward steps.

Driver operating the controls during a dumpster delivery
Roll-off dumpster placed in a tight residential driveway
PVD truck arriving to pick up a loaded dumpster
  1. Tell us the job and waste type

Tell us what you are throwing away and roughly how much. The material matters because dense debris can hit the weight limit before the box is full. Concrete, dirt and sod use the heavy-material container, so it is better to identify them before delivery day.

  2. Pick your delivery day

Book online and the calendar shows the delivery dates currently open. Orders placed before noon may qualify for same-day delivery, depending on route availability. Otherwise, the next working day is standard.

  3. We place it where you want it

Tell us the surface and where you want the dumpster placed. We drop on private driveways as standard, which across most of our service area also keeps you clear of a municipal permit. Driveway protection is available on request for an additional charge, so mention it when you book.

  4. Load it, then call for pickup

Standard dumpsters include 7 days on site, while the heavy-material container is a 3 days rental. Keep debris level with the top rail so the load can be tarped and legally hauled. When you are finished, call for pickup. Need the scale ticket? Ask for it and we will send it with the invoice.

Dumpster Weight Limits

Why a Half-Empty Dumpster Can Still Be Too Heavy

What a dumpster rental includes

A dumpster rental is an open-top steel container delivered by truck and left on your driveway or jobsite for the rental period. The truck rolls it off at delivery, then pulls the loaded container back onto the truck when the job is done.

Unlike the front-load dumpster behind a business, a rental container stays at your property and leaves with the debris inside it. It also holds far more than a disposable cleanup bag, which is capped near 3,300 pounds. PVD dumpsters hold 10 to 20 cubic yards for cleanouts, renovations and construction debris.

Why weight runs out before space does

Every dumpster has both a volume limit and a weight limit. Light, bulky material such as couches and boxes usually fills the container first. Dense debris such as plaster, tile or wet sod can reach the weight limit long before the box looks full.

For planning, loose mixed construction and demolition debris runs roughly 350 to 500 pounds per cubic yard, while broken concrete can run about 2,400 pounds. Wet sod varies with moisture. Those numbers are estimates only; the disposal-facility scale determines the actual load weight used on your invoice.

That is why concrete, dirt and other dense material belong in the dedicated heavy container. Roughly two cubic yards of broken concrete can already approach the included tonnage of that box. Put dense rubble in a standard 20 yard and the load can become too heavy to legally haul long before the dumpster looks full.

Roughly, per cubic yard
Loose mixed C and D debris, about 350 to 500 pounds. Broken concrete, about 2,400 pounds. Wet sod, heavier again. Estimates for sizing, not guarantees.
The scale ticket
Every load crosses a certified scale on the way in. Request the ticket and it comes to you, so what appears on your bill is documented rather than asserted.
Included tonnage
1 ton with the 10 yard, 1.5 tons with the 15, 2 tons with the 20, and 3 tons with the heavy material container. Anything past it is billed per ton at the rate on your agreement.
The three that trigger it
Drywall and plaster, tile, and wet material of any kind. If your load is mostly one of those, say so when you book and we will size for weight instead of volume.
The rail line
Load level with the top rail. A heaped container cannot be tarped, and an untarped load cannot legally leave your driveway.

This is a company I was extremely happy with and will use again and have recommended to my daughter. The price was fair, service was quick and one thing that I liked most of all was the truck and dumpster were immaculate! That's a good indication of how the business is run

Awesome Dumpster delivered to a roofing job we had in Coventry, RI near Black Rock, and the whole process was seamless. Their online scheduling took about a minute, the dumpster showed up on time exactly where we needed it, and the driver was helpful with placement so our crew could load shingles without fighting for access. As a roofing contractor, on-time dumpster delivery is the difference between a smooth tear-off and a wasted day. Best dumpster rental experience we've had in Rhode Island, highly recommend them for roofing debris, renovations, or any construction cleanout.

I used PVD Dumpster Rental for a garage cleanout and it made the whole job way easier than I expected. My garage had years of stuff piled up, and having the dumpster right there saved me a ton of trips to the dump. The size they recommended ended up being perfect for everything I needed to get rid of, which was important since space was a bit tight. I called when I was done and they came out pretty quickly. Will be using this service in the future

My husband and I are extremely pleased with PVD Dumster! From the very beginning phone call with Jamal who was so polite and informative. The delivery driver (sorry I forgot your name) arrived on time, placed the dumpster exactly where we wanted it, and kindly showed us how to open and close the latch. We thank you for the service and will definitely be calling again in the future for our next home project.

Questions

Dumpster Rental Questions

Do you rent 30 yard dumpsters?

No. PVD runs 10, 15 and 20 yard dumpsters plus a dedicated heavy material container, and does not offer a 30 or a 40 yard. For a job bigger than a 20 yard holds, we swap an empty container for your full one and keep the work moving, which usually costs less than one larger container and never risks an overweight load. Call (401) 213-9777 to schedule a swap.

How much room do you need to drop one off?

Plan on roughly 60 feet of straight clearance for the truck to back in and roll the container off, plus about 23 feet of length and 10 feet of width for the container itself. Overhead matters as much as ground space, because the hooklift arm rises well above the truck. Low branches and utility lines are the two things that most often stop a delivery.

Do you deliver on Saturdays?

Yes. Saturday between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM is a normal delivery window rather than an emergency call, because those are normal business hours for us. Sunday we are closed, so a Sunday drop falls under emergency and after-hours service, which is available on request. Call for pricing on that.

What is the smallest container you rent?

The 10 yard, at 12 feet long by 8 wide by 3 high, with 1 ton included. That is the minimum order, so a smaller job still books the same box. Its footprint is why people pick it: twelve feet leaves room beside a parked car on most driveways.
