What a 15 Yard Dumpster is for
A 15 yard dumpster starts at $475 and includes 1.5 tons of weight on a 7 days rental. It suits a kitchen or bathroom coming out, a packed garage, or flooring and carpet lifted across several rooms.
Step up to the 20 for a roof tear-off or a multi-room renovation. Shingles reach the weight allowance while the box still looks half empty.

What Actually Fits In It
Every figure with the arithmetic printed underneath rather than a number to take on trust.
- 5Pickup loads
Full-size truck, bed heaped rather than level.
A standard pickup bed is about 3 cubic yards, so 15 divided by 3 is roughly 5. - 130 to 150Contractor bags
42 gallon bags, filled and settled.
15 cubic yards is 405 cubic feet, and a filled bag settles to roughly 3 cubic feet. - 1.5 tonsIncluded weight
Weighed on a certified scale at disposal.
That works out at 200 pounds per cubic yard, the same ratio on every standard size we run.
The limit you reach first is rarely the walls
Space and weight bind independently. Furniture and bagged household waste run out of room first, so those jobs get sized on cubic yards. Plaster, tile, shingle and anything holding water run out of allowance first, and get sized on tons no matter how much room is left above them.
Step up to the 20 for a roof tear-off or a multi-room renovation. Shingles reach the weight allowance while the box still looks half empty.
Past 1.5 tons, extra weight is billed at $145 per ton against a certified scale ticket. The full density figures sit on the dumpster sizes and weight limits page.

Questions
15 Yard Questions
How big is a 15 yard dumpster?
A 15 yard measures 14 feet long, 8 wide and 4 high, and holds 15 cubic yards. That is roughly 5 full-size pickup loads. It is the same 14 foot length as the 20 yard, so if the 20 fits your driveway this one certainly does. Only the wall height changes between them, which is where the extra five cubic yards comes from.
Is a 15 yard dumpster big enough for a kitchen remodel?
For most kitchens, yes. Cabinets, counters, appliances and the flooring underneath will fit, and the 1.5 tons included covers a normal amount of tile. Where it gets tight is a large kitchen with a tile floor coming up as well, because mortar bed is heavy. Tell us the floor area and we will say which way to go.
What is the difference between a 15 and a 20 yard dumpster?
One foot of wall height and half a ton of allowance. Both are 14 feet long and 8 feet wide, so they take the same driveway space. The 20 is 5 feet high against the 15 at 4 feet, which is five extra cubic yards, and it carries 2 tons against 1.5 tons. If you are between the two, the 20 costs less than a second haul.
